To further enhance your exclusive Wilson Island experience, Aldesta Hotels Australia have recently taken delivery of a beautiful new catamaran named ‘Sali’. Custom built and designed to ensure the comfort of our Wilson Island guests, the new 12M aluminium catamaran will provide the 30-minute boat transfers from Heron Island to Wilson Island. ‘Sali’ is air-conditioned and fitted out with bow loading and access facilities so guests can step straight onto the beach to be welcomed by their hosts for their one-of-a-kind Great Barrier Reef getaway.
Wilson Island is a natural coral cay, both part of the Great Barrier Reef and surrounded by it. An unimaginable variety of marine life surrounds Wilson Island, making it one of the best snorkelling locations on the Great Barrier Reef. Guests can enjoy snorkelling directly off the beach with all equipment provided or join the island hosts for a guided island walk. The eco-friendly island is powered only by battery or solar, and due to its secluded location, there is no wifi on Wilson Island, allowing guests to switch off from the outside world and truly feel at one with nature. With only nine permanent Reef Safari Tents, Wilson Island can host a maximum of 18 guests at any one time, allowing for a feeling of private seclusion during your stay.
Located on the Southern Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Gladstone Queensland, Wilson Island is accessible via Heron Island. Guests can travel to Heron Island on the ferry that departs from Gladstone marina daily at 9:30am (except Tues and Thurs). Wilson Island guests will depart from Heron Island daily at 2:00pm for a quick 30-minute catamaran transfer to seclusion. Air transfers via helicopter are also available from Gladstone Airport to Heron Island, providing a birds-eye view of the Great Barrier Reef. Transfers to Heron Island available by boat and helicopter are at an additional cost. For bookings call Australia Toll Free 1800 336 051.
