Lady Musgrave Experience - Reef Sanctuary Pontoon

We are delighted to announce the newest addition to the growing Lady Musgrave Experience fleet: Reef Sanctuary Pontoon.

Positioned within the pristine sheltered waters of Lady Musgrave Island lagoon, Reef Sanctuary pontoon advances Lady Musgrave Experiences commitment to marine education and conservation as the newest citizen science day tour platform on the Southern Great Barrier Reef.

About Reef Sanctuary Pontoon

Boasting two custom built levels with sustainability and reef conservation at the heart of the design, Reef Sanctuary will be the platform from which Citizen Science activities take place. The pontoon offers the perfect base for experiential eco-educational day tour activities via the underwater observatory and a custom-built dive and snorkel platform. A notable feature is the perfect classroom on the reef, sustainably refurbished using local labor, materials and suppliers. This classroom will serve as a central hub for providing advanced educational experiences related to the Great Barrier Reef.

This new addition will facilitate a range of activities and programs aimed at enhancing marine education and research. These include opportunities for citizen science, high-quality experiential learning tailored to schools, research organizations, and dive groups. Additionally, it will support data collection and research monitoring, conducted in collaboration with local Indigenous organizations and our wildlife ecology team. The pontoon will also offer Marine-Biologist-for-a-Day activities, serve as a research hub for the Reef Keeper Program, and provide coral regeneration and installation of coral growing frames as part of citizen science experiences. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a coral adoption program.

A key aspect of this initiative is our collaboration with local Indigenous land and sea rangers. This partnership aims to integrate scientific methods with traditional knowledge, fostering a holistic approach to marine education and reef protection.

In line with our commitment to sustainability, the Reef Sanctuary Pontoon operates with a zero carbon footprint, maintaining the environmental standards of our existing Day Tour platform LMHQ Pontoon.

We are enthusiastic about the opportunities this new pontoon will provide for educational programs, research, and conservation efforts. We look forward to welcoming schools, researchers, and marine enthusiasts for exceptional learning experiences and contributions to reef preservation.
